Newsletter consent

Last updated

This page explains exactly what you agree to when you subscribe to MY-BOOK emails, what we send, how often, and how to change your mind at any time.

What you agree to

When you subscribe, you ask us to:

“Send me new MY Book posts and updates by email. I can unsubscribe at any time.”

We record this consent with the date, the place on MY-BOOK where you gave it and the version of this wording (3 October 2026). Our emails come from “MY Book”. Newsletter emails are sent only with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Confirming your address

  • We send a confirmation email first, and nothing else until you click its link. This is called double opt-in, and it stops anyone subscribing an address that isn't theirs.
  • The confirmation link works for 7 days. If you didn't ask to subscribe, just ignore the email and nothing will happen.
  • We send no more than 3 confirmation emails to the same address in 24 hours.
  • If you're signed in and subscribe with your account's email address, we already know it's yours, so you're subscribed straight away.
  • Hidden checks on our sign-up forms block automated sign-ups.

Which emails we send

The first three are the newsletter. The others are notifications about the authors you follow and, if you write on MY-BOOK, activity on your posts. You can switch each one on or off.

Emails MY-BOOK can send you
EmailWhen we send itStarts
New postsWhen a new post is published, at most one email every 20 hours. You can choose topics instead of every post.On
Weekly digestEvery Monday: a short round-up of popular and recent posts, picked for you.On
Featured postsWhen our editors feature a post.On
Authors you followWhen an author you follow publishes, up to 3 emails a day. You need an account to follow authors. On
Comments and repliesWhen someone comments on your post or replies to your comment. On
New followersWhen someone starts following you.On
CollaborationInvitations to work on a post, review requests and decisions, and scheduled posts going live or failing. On

We also send a few emails about things you do on MY-BOOK: when your post goes live or is updated, when your comment goes live, and a confirmation when you message us through the contact form. If our team hides one of your posts, we always email you to say why.

How often

  • At most one new-post email every 20 hours. Anything else published in that time can appear in your weekly digest.
  • At most 3 emails a day from authors you follow.
  • One weekly digest, on Mondays.
  • You won't get two new-post emails about the same post, even if you both subscribe and follow its author.

Change your preferences or unsubscribe

  • Every newsletter email, and every email about an author you follow, has a one-click Unsubscribe link. It works straight away and you don't need to sign in. Many email apps also show their own unsubscribe button, which does the same.
  • Every newsletter and notification email has a Manage email preferences link, where you can choose exactly which emails you get and which topics you follow.
  • Emails about an author you follow also have a link to stop emails from just that author.
  • Signed in? Go to Settings and open Email notifications, or visit your email preferences.
  • Unsubscribing from everything stops all MY-BOOK emails, including notifications. Sign-in codes from your myproject.ai account still arrive, because you need them to sign in, and so does an email if our team hides one of your posts.

What we keep and for how long

  • Your email address, whether you're subscribed, your choices and topics, and the date you confirmed.
  • Your consent record: when and where you subscribed, the wording and its version, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your network address, never the address itself.
  • A link to your MY-BOOK account if you subscribed while signed in, how many emails we've sent you and when we sent the last one.
  • A log of which emails we've sent you, so we don't send the same one twice and can keep to the limits above. We keep it for 400 days (about 13 months).
  • Delivery reports from our email provider, such as delivered, bounced or marked as spam, and the result of checking that your address can receive email.
  • Your reason for unsubscribing, if you choose to give one.

Links in our emails carry campaign tags that tell us a visit came from an email, not who you are.

We keep your subscription record while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep just enough (your address and that you unsubscribed) to make sure we never email you by mistake. If you'd like it erased completely, contact us. Our Privacy Policy has more about your rights.
